My Daily Prayer

"I pray that Yeshua, will Lead me, Teach me, Bless me, That HIS will, is my will. That HE will allow me to touch all those that I meet with HIS great LOVE. That they see HIM not me. That he will allow me to show great Love, Passion and Strength to the mate HE has chosen for me as we die daily to serve HIM. That we Unite and become One under HIS loving arms of Grace and Mercy", Amen and Amen. Hello Kat!

A Little Target Practice

CAM_0194

Today there was no rain… So I when out and did some practice.   Started at 30 Ft with a couple rounds. Then went to 60 Ft, and finished off the target.  Below that target I went to 75 Ft… was not real thrilled with this.  Back to the Top Right I shot at 90 FT thought better of this.   So I went to 120 FT I actually was hitting the target this surprised me… not to long along I was not hitting the whole sheet of paper! I did have two flyers but they were on paper.

I tried some of my new Pellets (Thanks Bill), the lighter 11.4 Grains, Maybe it was me but I think they flew straighter that the 14 Grains I had been using.  All and all It was not to bad for not being out for more than a week, with a cold. I need more practice with breathing. At 86 degrees with 76% humidity I was soaked with an hour. I just could not relax and breath right today. If it had rained I would have been cooler… Come on my “Fall Friend” hurry up and get here and stay a while. Of course my shoulder was being a brat, so I gave in and came inside to post my results.  To my Air Rifle Forum Buddies give me a yell and tell me what you all think.

27 Different Pellets, Oh My Goodness…

I have been having so much trouble hitting the mark past 90 feet, I have written my air gun forum about the problem. Many have written solid good information to help me get there. I have gained a few good friends in this process.  Bill is certainly top on my list with emails going back and forth weekly.

Just got this email today:  Watch for ups. straight shooters order number xxxx-xxxx-xxxx - it's a .22 sampler box--25 each of 27 different pellets. happy Rosh Hashanah or whatever you decide to celebrate today.  -bp

Of course I am speechless. All I can say is Thank You.  my reply was this:  Oh my Goodness, what have you done my friend, Oh my THANK YOU!, I only hope you bought some pellets for yourself...  This is so GREAT! I will have to get better real quick so I can shoot those new pellets... We will get down to the issue and solve the problem, 27 different pellets... Oh my I need a better plan. I need to double check everything... Thank You Bill !!!  Just got emails from Straight Shooters about the order.  Oh my!  Later Bill, all this has worn me out... (I have a bad cold this week).

Reviewing webcam software…

Just a quick blog. I have been playing around with Webcam Max and Manycam.

I have now made four attempts to reach the folks at Manycam. Would like to have another video over text box. But they have not replied to date. I am currently using Manycam.

Now the folks at Webcam Max have replied right off the bat! They have sent me a new “Alpha” link to their software that will allow you to save your template that you have designed. Can wait to get into it as discover what other goodies they have created. At this rate I will be able to use Webcam Max on the air shortly.

Current scoreboard:  Manycam:  1   Webcam Max: 2

More later….

TX200 verses. B40 Air rifle.

Pyramydair released the air-arms-tx-200-air-rifle video. I have a B40 which is a Chinese look alike. Now this is what I was expecting when I bought my B40. This video makes me sick, Paul is getting 100 yards easy, me 100 feet – NO WAY. You can go to their TX200 page. <here>.

Removing front wheel

I see a black tube – I am told it comes out, but not yet!

Presta valve adapters

Recently I have had a lot of trouble with my tires on Onyx… The presta valves are different, but once you learn about them it is simple.  I was looking for presta valve stem covers and found the link about presta valve adapters, here is a nice video.

Steve Sussman send a  picture of this.

These are great when you have a pump that only uses the Schrader valve stems. At a dollar a piece that is a great buy.

Now on Ustream

I am trying out Ustream and the chat feature on my blog page. I just need to remember to login to Ustream. Nothing broadcasting your life.

Just need a little air. And a new horn!

Well I believe Onyx and I are ready to go for a ride just need to pump up the tires and light the fires! Oh my, I am having trouble getting air in the tubes. Well could be worst, Right Jim.

I am looking for a new horn for Onyx. I have had the Air Zound horn, I have had trouble with it since the day I first saw it. I could never find I place to mount it were I would not accidently hit it and release a burst of 102 decibels of noise.  So I will start searching for a replacement since It will not stay charged up.

Added a roof… did some shooting too.

Well I added a roof over my shooting table, with plenty of space left to park Onyx under it too.

Shooting Distance was 60 feet.

Almost there…

After taking apart the tensioner and working with it on my small vise this is what I have done. Need just a little more flattening.

CAM_0149 CAM_0150

Of course Ashley recommends just to remove the the tensioner altogether.

Heard from Ashley

He said - I would just get rid of the tensioner and use the boom to tighten the chain. Otherwise, you could replace the tensioner with a derailleur and set the limiters to pin its position.  Ashley Guy

I said - Ashley you said a mouth full there. would you be so kind to give me the details for both options. I am sure I would go with the first option, once you break it down or show me a video on it. Of course it that does not work for some wild eye reason, I would like the second option with prices and details, of course a video is always nice. Thank you for helping me. For some reason Dennis referred me to you. But I already knew you were the Guru, he was a bit closer. Thanks again. Andy

More pictures of tensioner.

Of course these last two photos are of the master link, now to snap my fingers…

Heard from Ed and CT today.

Ed from BigEd's Custom Airgun Parts left me this message that has given me renewed interest in the B50 from BAM.

Hi Andrew
I have always said that the B-50 was a good gun.  With a little lovin', it can become a real nice gun.  It's Chinese heritage caused concern because of the quality issues on previous Chinese guns.  From the B-50 on, the quality has gotten better.
The Marauder has some features that the B-50 don't have, yet.  In just shooting ability and accuracy, the re-crowned B-50 should be able to hold its own.  With a Walther barrel, the game changes, and then I give the edge to the B-50.  The Marauder still has the multi-shot magazine, and a shroud, but that may not be an advantage much longer.
I still haven't received the prototype Breech yet, I'm waiting for it to arrive to see if it needs any last minute tweaks before they start rolling out.
I have no idea of why it cost $1600 for a fill setup.  The scuba tank should have only been about $300 new, and a high-dollar fill station might cost $150.  A brand new Carbon Fiber tank is under $700, so his $1600 is just a bit high.
Ed

Another Great email that I received this week was from  CT at Varmint Air

Hi Andy,
Thanks, I'm glad you like my blog.
Sorry, I'm not at all familiar with the B40. I prefer a good quality .22 caliber PCP for hunting ground squirrels and prairie dogs at the longer ranges. Say 50 yards on out to 100 yards.
I use my .20 cal R9, and .20 HW 97 out to about 60 yards. If I know the area I'm hunting in will offer a lot of shots beyond that, I will usually hunt with a .22 cal PCP.
I like my springers, but my Pcp's are in a different class power wise. My most powerful springer generates about 14 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle, and most of my PCP's are about double that a 28 to 30 fpe.
For long range hunting, I just prefer to use a .22 cal PCP. More power, much flatter trajectory than my springers at the longer ranges, and the heavy .22 cal pellets buck the wind better.
I don't use a lot of power in my hunting scopes. I have variables, but have them all set at 8X. Some guys like 10X to 12X or more, but in the field, 8X works well for me.
Unlike springers, PCP's are not hard on scopes. I use a lot of Bushnell Legend 5x15x40mm variables, with the mildot reticles. They work well on a springer or PCP.
I also have some Bushnell 3200's and several MTC Viper's that I use on various PCP's.
A lot has to do with what you ultimately want to use your gun for. Lots of choices. So many that it can get quite confusing at times.
Have a great weekend. CT

Onyx is down!

My rear wheel simply came out of the dropouts… After signing on the BROL and finally getting Dennis at Wheelworks  I finally got some pictures how it should look when I put it back together. Well putting it back together seem simple after I talked to Dennis. But I found a problem… One of the bars on the tensioner got bent!

pictures below:

Of course I do not know what to do or how to get it fixed.  What do you all think?

Are you Fireproof?

fireproof

Never leave your partner behind.  You must see the movie “Fireproof”

“Feet not Yards”…

I own a BAM B40 it was tuned by Mike Melick. I have a Leapers 3x9x40 scope mounted. Have you had a chance to try this rifle out? It is a little heavy for hunting but so far out to about 100 feet it is a killer.  I guess that is my problem - "feet" not yards!!" I really want to get out there.  I believe I have been told if that is what I want I need to go to a PCP rifle, and  a lesson I have learned is to not fudge on the next scope. I want the scope to double as a spotting scope, so I can see each shot placement. Please share with me your thoughts on this issue.

Is this my next rifle? So many choices… Picking the right one is the ticket.
