Oh my answer is all of the above.
I ran for shelter at Young's Dairy until the storm passed then I rode like heck to get home. Oh and I took some pics of the storm

My reply:
I was 70 miles away from home and on a road with fresh tar on both sides of the road. No shoulder to ride on. Whew! 
I either had 10 miles of road to my back or 2 miles of wet tar in front of me. High winds, Thunder, Lightening, and Torrential Rain pouring down with all its fury. Rivers of water filling the sides of the road, where the road just dropped off on both sides with no shoulder. Throughly soaked through and through. All you can do is "P&P", Peddle and Pray. 
By the time I got through all the tar and at the end of the road the flash storm was over.
