The Wiccan Rede

THE WICCAN REDE
Bide the Wiccan Laws we must In Perfect Love and Perfect Trust. Live and let live. Fairly take and fairly give. Cast the Circle thrice about To keep the evil spirits out. To bind the spell every time Let the spell be spake in rhyme. Soft of eye and light of touch, Speak little, listen much. Deosil go by the waxing moon, Chanting out the Witches' Rune. Widdershins go by the waning moon, Chanting out the baneful rune. When the Lady's moon is new, Kiss the hand to her, times two. When the moon rides at her peak, Then your heart's desire seek, Heed the North wind's mighty gale, Lock the door and drop the sail. When the wind comes from the South, Love will kiss thee on the mouth. When the wind blows from the West, Departed souls will have no rest. When the wind blows from the East, Expect the new and set the feast. Nine woods in the cauldron go, Burn them fast and burn them slow. Elder be the Lady's tree, Burn it not or cursed you'll be. When the Wheel begins to turn, Let the Beltane fires burn. When the Wheel has turned to Yule, Light the log and the Horned One rules. Heed ye Flower, Bush and Tree, By the Lady, blessed be. Where the rippling waters go, Cast a stone and truth you'll know. When ye have a true need, Hearken not to others' greed. With a fool no season spend, Lest ye be counted as his friend. Merry meet and merry part, Bright the cheeks and warm the heart. Mind the Threefold Law you should, Three times bad and three times good. When misfortune is enow, Wear the blue star on thy brow. True in Love ever be, Lest thy lover's false to thee. Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill: An ye harm none, do what ye will.
- Blessed Be -

Drooling over Topsknives.com…

My little Bro at Bushcraft on Fire tuned me in to a fantastic web page. Yep you guessed it Topsknives.com.  I guess the slogan they use really cuts to the chase.  It has special meaning to me since I am, “Once a Marine Always a Marine”. And their slogan “Special Ops Trust Tops Cause They’re Hard to the Core”, and I read in “Corps” since I am a Marine Corps trooper through and through. I snatched this picture off their site. Are you drooling yet? Continue….

You really need to stop by and check out Mike’s site. I definitely made some last minute changes to my Santa list and “faxed” it to his emergency update listings. In my quest to find the “right stuff” axes, it may be right here.

One of the goodies is the ATAX, a multi-purpose tool. that is the “bomb”. Just look at this picture and “DROOL”.

Even if I was not big into living off the land this ‘tool” would find it’s way into my kitchen! For stocking stuffers check out the ACCESSORIES & SHEATHS page it was something for everyone here. I have my eyes on a  Black SERE Belt and the Drop Leg Knife Rig.  Of course there is the “what you get for someone that has everything” gift, the Survival Neck Wallet, just perfect for when your are in a tight spot  Thank you David from Bushcraft on Fire and Mike from Topsknives for clueing me in… Perhaps I will be able to give you a “Up Close and Personal” review in the future.

Foot and Leg Swelling Again…

I am taking my blood pressure meds… still not sure why I my Left Foot and Leg is swelling again. The swelling went down for about a week but I had swelling in the back of my head for 3 days. So this is the 3rd or 4th time in the past few months.  If anybody has had the same problems, please let me know. My BP is setting at 140/95 currently.

After a knife, what is next, Axe, Hatchet, or Hawk?

So I have two nice blades so what is next? An axe, hatchet, tomahawk or maybe a saw and not to forget a machete, which I have covered earlier.  First I will show a video I found where you can make a nice bucksaw in the woods.

Next lets talk about an axe or hatchet. One name seems to stand out more than any other among the bushcraft  community is “Wetterlings” they have 3 great sizes to choose from. Go over to Northwest Woodsman and take a peek. They also offer a nice folding bucksaw. Below is a video that shows a video that explains the reason they are so popular.

Next I found a video that does a comparison of a few tools.

So I really do not have an exact answer, this is where I would have to lean towards what my Friend and Bro. would have to say. But with a good knife, axe and saw I would say you could pretty much handle anything you would come across. David and Tam do a wide array of bushcraft videos, if you have not visited their website you really need to.  They are a true blessing in every way.  Just wished I was there “living off the land”, Back to GOD and his Country.  Just a small note to the person that really got me involved in the love of Bushcraft was Bradford Angier. I wish I could have meet him. He and his wife Vena truly transformed my whole life when I was in high school and discovered his books in the library.  I wished I could own his first four books that told their story of their great adventure to Canada to escape  the “Rat Race” and live a cleaner and healthier life style that we all but have forgotten.  I believe that David and Tam have found that life style. And they do bless us with a peek into that world…

  • How To Build Your Home in The Woods (1952)
  • Living Off the Country: How to Stay Alive in the Woods (1956)
  • On Your own in the Wilderness (1958)

Thanks Brad and Vena, may you rest in peace as your books continue to inspire us and remind us of who we are and where we need to be…

Andy out.

Thank You Tasha
