New Pedals

One of my BROL buddies send me a pair of new pedals for Onyx. Remember that he said "A Girl needs a new pair of shoes every now and then." That was at 11:40am, it is now 1:30pm as I write this note. I am totally worn out and in pain. During this time span I removed the old pedals - put the new ones on - pumped up a tire. Then carried Onyx out of the yard on to the driveway - set up camera shot a clip of me riding Onyx up and down the driveway. I broke a windshield mount getting off Onyx, I guess the screw was to brindle. So I removed windshield and put it up for now, one problem at a time. I then came back and rode around the block. Mind you my block is on a very steep hill about 40 degrees - so going out was not bad but coming back was very hard. Too say the least I am very much out of shape, I say that because it never was a problem before. I think April and  September was the last time I really rode Onyx or any thing else. I think that was when my heart was destroyed. But I am healing and now I have to get back in to shape! I took somes pictures and a small video, I will process them and post them soon.  Well here they are...

 

Alright in the collage above you see the boxed Power Grips, On the left you see here I had the egg beaters that were on Onyx and pictures with Onyx with no "shoes" and in the middle and the right side the Brand New Power Grips installed. Yippee!!   Now how about a ride?

Getting On and Off Onyx.

I have pulled out Onyx to show her off, Before filming this video I had to pump up the tires and checked her out. In this video I explain the pole and stairs behind me.








Yes, if you go to Catrike or to Utahtrikes you can see others like Onyx they are special and different, so yes they are not your average Wal-Mart Bicycle. With my injury to my shoulder, a regular diamond frame bicycle is to painful to ride. (Don't you spent more even on that Special Girl or Rifle, or Sports Car!)

A Good Day Today, I Guess.

I Rode “Onyx” 5 (five) miles today. The Pollen count must be high today really driving my sinuses crazy. I even went out and shot a few targets with my BAM-40 Air Rifle, Still have good tight groups. Time to move my targets back.

Questions about Onyx and my HT.

I have an Icom W32A HT and  I have a harness it for and can wear it while riding “Onyx”. I have been Ill and recovering from my work related shoulder injury. I am just missing and need 2 items for the rig, an BNC to PL-259 cable for the HT and a 12v battery to power my HT. You might say that is simple, but I lost my job due to my injury, lost the workmen’s comp due to my Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI), (Thanks Alabama) and on a very long wait for Social Security Benefits. I have not an income since July of ‘08 or a job since December of ‘07. Makes having a life difficult.  I have a bed and I get to eat. I have access to the internet, I now have “Onyx” to get around in. And most of all I still have my Sharon.

I am wanting to get my HT back up and running. I hate that I can not make use of my Amateur Radio Ticket, Where I am located I need a power amp for the HT.  At current prices a 2 meter rig cost as much as a power amp for the HT. Even if I found a good price on a 2 meter rig, I am still waiting on my benefits. I believe the trees are currently blocking my 2 meter antenna by the house. This make hitting the local repeaters almost impossible.  I need an local “Elmer” to look in on me and help a bit. I have been trying to reach local radio clubs but with no success as of yet.  I have recently found out about echo link, just need a usb headset and mic to get on the air that way… Still boils down to money…  Well I am still alive, and kicking, things will work out.  More later Guys.  73 de KF4SWS and Onyx.

I need front fairing and back tailbox to fully complete my Expedition. I can not seem to wait to see what Jim does with "Silk". His "700" is beautiful, I am wondering how "Silk" will look when the tailbox and fairing is added.

Catrike care package…Yeah

Chaim at Catrike HQ is sending me a care package.

After I washed Onyx up after my first trip home I noticed that some of the decals was starting to peel off.   Ouch!  So Chaim came to the rescue and is sending me another set. I also lost two (2) plastic thread nuts that keep the fenders from rattling off. He popped them in them in the care package too… Thank you all very much.

Thinking about a cradle

Thanks to Steve Sussman (krispysteve) of BROL he send me some photos of a cradle that I will try to make out of some scrap lumber I found out behind the shed. Well as you would guess it started raining again so - we will see if the weather guys are right about the weekend.

Got my Onyx stickers...

Well I was blessed to have gotten extra stickers because the one I wanted to use refused to work for me. And tore up while I was peeling the backing off and praying for help.

Thanks the Gods the second one worked a lot better. Like the first should have. Thank you Eric.

Then when that was finished I look out side and it is raining yet again! Goodness The weather guy says the weekend will be hot and sunny! We will see.
